About Nepal
A Country of Culture, Strength, and Global Aspirations

A Nation of Cultural Richness, Natural Beauty, and Global
Workforce Potential. Nepal, officially known as the Federal
Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a beautiful country located
in South Asia, bordered by China to the north and India to the
south, east, and west. Spanning an area of 147,516 square
kilometers, Nepal is home to an estimated 30 million people,
representing over 125 ethnic groups and speaking more than 120
local languages.
Despite being globally renowned for its natural wonders—especially the Himalayas and Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak—Nepal is also admired for its rich cultural diversity, ancient heritage, and spiritual harmony. Major religions practiced include Hinduism (81%), Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, and indigenous beliefs, making Nepal a multi-religious and multicultural society.
Current Socio-Economic Situation of Nepal
Nepal is a developing country with a primarily agriculture-based economy, although recent years
have seen significant growth in services, tourism, and remittance-based income. While the country is rich in natural resources and human potential, it still faces challenges such as:
- Limited job opportunities in the domestic market
- Youth unemployment and underemployment
- Slow-paced industrialization and economic reforms
- Infrastructure development delays in rural areas
